I as the Panelist

Me as the Facilitator
As I watch the world go by and feel mundane, the gods always ensure hilarious moments in between. This time, I spared no effort as a panelist to contribute the best human resources to the Dzongkhag. But then, who on earth would have known that I would create a blushing moment? Lol!

It was an elderly woman who applied for the post of caretaker. It was my turn to ask her the professional knowledge questions. I set the context well for her that she would be working in a school if selected and that she would be required to work anytime, day or night.

I asked, in Tsangla, “Lop uzin ge nge ri tsu tse thur ga odo yeg ne la, ne gi ofay ray bay mo?”

Promptly, without even a second thought, she answered, “Principal ge hang yeg ne bu, je ta ma gai rang mang ofay. je na lo rang ma na la.”

We laughed out loud and at the same time, I didn’t know how to make the situation right. I looked at the other panelists; two of them were principals, and through their eye gestures, I regained confidence and re-explained the question. I don’t know in what context she was thinking, but it really made us blush for a second.

Next time lay, panel member bay ra me bay lab chi. Haha
