A headless spirit; the customary tale.

Like every Moelam Chenmo does not conclude without Lop. Yeshey Wangchuk’s  Zhungdra in breaks, our stay, wherever, is not complete without a tale of a horror story, and that also of a headless spirit.

The tale of Samdrup Jongkhar’s headless spirit, I must say, is little different than those I have heard.

When I was attending Phunakha Higher Secondary School, the headless spirit would come out by noon and liked dancing to the tune of the breeze along the corridors of the academic block. And it was she. Haha…

Next, I was in the College of Language and Culture Studies. Here, the headless spirit loved roving along the road, below the lectures’ quarters, which leads to the boys’ hostel.  It was he.  The special thing about this spirit is, it laughs. LoL!

[Indeed, Taktse had many horror stories including Naladuem’s sister’s intimidating story which would make our hair stand on end.]

Coming to SJ’s ‘headless spirit’, it is believed that it dallies between Dewathang and Samdrup Jongkhar highway.  It used to be a normal man. One day, it went out to the wood, got fond of the jungle, and never returned. It became the spirit of the place.

[But, I am not told how it became headless]. It is hairy and he.

For this reason, maybe, I do not attend any program-not matter how important it is- before the break of dawn or after dusk unless I have a companion.

I don’t want to be read in the divination that I died because I crossed the path with the hairy, headless spirit.

 Azai…..wai!!!
